The Santo Tomás University of Bucaramanga has carried out a careful intervention in one of its heritage buildings to create a space of great historical and cultural value: the Guane Culture Archaeological Museum. This transformation has redefined the building, preserving its original architecture while integrating a contemporary museography that highlights the legacy of this ancient civilization.

Access to the museum is through a vaulted corridor that maintains the historic character of the building, guiding visitors to a collection of archaeological artifacts that reveal the worldview, funerary practices, and artisanal ingenuity of the Guane people. The museum’s ambiance combines strategic lighting and warm-toned materials that evoke earth and stone, fundamental elements in the life of this pre-Hispanic culture.

This new space not only enriches the university’s academic resources but also strengthens Santander’s cultural identity, offering researchers, students, and visitors an immersive experience into the history and heritage of the region’s ancient inhabitants.
